Once again, Aiko to the rescue!!

Our first run of washing was not without incident, however. Whilst
installing a wall lamp, Jeff pulled out what seemed to the the
washing-machine plug (oblivious to the warning on the socket in the form
of a flashing, red light). Within about 20 mins we heard the doorbell ring.
A visitor, for us?! It was the emergency services, responding to an alarm
call eminating from our flat! "Don't unplug the socket with the
flashing red light," was communicated to us in sign language!
